Turning Digital Technologies into
Worker-Centred Industrial Support

EMPOWR is driven by objectives that combine advanced technology with a clear human-centred purpose: technology should support workers, not replace or burden them. The project will develop, integrate and validate a set of adaptable tools for Industry 5.0 manufacturing environments.

  • Identify worker needs, roles, skills, ergonomic challenges and expectations in advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Develop ALMA, an AI-based assistant that supports workers through context-aware, multimodal and personalised guidance.
  • Create adaptive AR interfaces that provide task-relevant information while respecting cognitive load, safety and usability.
  • Develop worker intention prediction and strain monitoring systems to support early risk prevention, ergonomic optimisation and safer interaction with machines.
  • Build and validate a Digital Twin framework that enables closed-loop interaction between workers, machines and management systems.
  • Validate the EMPOWR ecosystem in two real industrial pilots representing different manufacturing conditions and worker requirements.
  • Use Living Labs to engage workers, managers and stakeholders in participatory co-design, scenario development and iterative testing.
  • Assess technological, ethical, psychological, organisational and regulatory dimensions, including alignment with EU AI and OHS frameworks.
  • Create training curricula, exploitation pathways, standardisation input and policy outputs for broader industrial adoption.
